| New out DK's Complete Sailing Manual is 25 pounds.
It is ok as a general boat book but no way worth buying. It is very poor on sailing a beachcat and fails totally to say anything in the cruiser section about multihulls. If you are buying a gift it is not possible to give a second hand book but if you are buying a book of this type for yourself go to a second hand book shop and get The Handbook 0f Sailing by Bob Bond. It was by DK and was much better it even mentions how to sail down wind in a beachcat! I bought a copy of the hardback edition from 1980 for £5-75 good value less than the price of 2 copies of Yachts & Yachting now £2-95. I am astounded that a publisher can sell a good book not the best of its type but certainly very good at the new price then of £11-50 and replace it 20 years later with an inferior product. Thank God for second hand book shops. |
